Snowshoeing Anyone??

Glacier Park in the winter, your favorite Summit friends and snow shoeing...what do these have in common?? You, on Thursday, February 10th, meet us at the Summit at 11:00 for a guided snowshoeing trip in Glacier. A Glacier Park Ranger will lead a guided interpretive hour and a half long hike (about 3 miles) along the Oxbow Trail. You will leave the Summit at 11:00 and arrive back around 5:00, if you do not have your own snowshoes you are able to rent then for $2.00 (bring cash). You will need to bring layers of clothing, warm boots, water, lunch or snacks, and money, we may stop for coffee on the way back. Room is limited so you do need to pre-register in advance. Spring...It's right around the corner

Ok, so maybe I'm jumping the gun but with all the gray skies, cold weather and general gloom there has to be a little shining light on the horizon. I found mine yesterday, I looked out my kitchen window and there on my pussywillow bush were catkins. Now, it is not fully covered but it is a start.

With that being said it must be time to get into Spring training. It's time to get those gardening muscles tuned up, digging, hoeing, planting all the fun stuff! It's never too early or too late to get started, there can always be a "Day 1", that's what I tell myself anyway, don't give up.

If you need a little morale boost don't despair. Not everybody is a size 5, nor would we all want to be. You need to embrace yourself, all your curves and chubbiness, faults and failures. Underneath all that is a really good person, I'm sure of it! If you are ready to try and shed a few pounds for whatever reason don't be intimidated, take that first step, you can do it and remember that"Hope Springs Eternal".

Extended Hours

You asked for it, you got it!! I've been hearing how you would like us to be open earlier on Sundays. Guess what? you got it!

Starting Sunday, March 6th the Summit will be open at 7:00am and be open until 7:00pm. Yea!!! So as of then our hours of operation will be Monday through Friday 5:00am until 10:00pm, Saturday 7:00am until 9:00pm, Sunday 7:00am until 7:00pm. On Memorial Day, as usual, we will switch to our Summer hours. At that time we will be open Monday through Friday 5:00am to 9:00pm, Saturday and Sunday 7:00 to 5:00, those hours will run until Labor Day.

Please remember the new Sunday hours don't start until March 6th, but it's almost here. Anytime that you are looking for changes it is so important that you fill out comment cards, member surveys etc...I am always, always happy to listen but most the time the "Powers that Be" won't listen to my input they want to hear it from you, our valued Summit members. Thanks so much for all your comments, questions, complaints we really do want this to be the best place for health and fitness.

15 Challenges

We are closing in on our Anniversary celebration and the fun is just beginning! You still have time to get your Challenges Cards turned in to get entered for the prizes. Everyone is really having a lot of fun with it and being creative in stepping outside their "box" trying new things. I seen people down in the gym doing freethrows, or at least trying, people trying out tennis. I had a mom tell me this morning that her kids were out shoveling neighbors sidewalks determined to get their challenges done. Not only are they going to get entered in the drawing they were doing a good deed. Way to go!!

Don't forget this Saturday is the last day for the discounted registration, also the last day to get your entries in. The drawing will be held at 2:00pm but there are a lot of fun activities going on throughout the day! Remember, this Saturday we will be open to the public for free, so come on in join the fun and help us celebrate our 15th Anniversary!!!
