Downstairs Flooring

What's up with the flooring downstairs?? I have been asked that a million times, ok, maybe not a million but quite a few. Let me try and give an answer to this question. Moisture was found underneath the flooring that was going to create further problems so the locktech (the wood floor looking stuff) had to be removed. Then came the waiting time to let the concrete dry out. We've finally have come to the point where we made the decision not to replace the wood flooring and instead we are grinding the concrete down to the aggregate and are going to polish and clear coat it. It should look really cool when it's all done! It will be about another week before it is completely done. Thanks for your patience, all your input and for putting up with the mess.

After Workout Smoothie

I just found a great recipe in today's paper for an after workout smoothie. After a hard workout our bodies crave protein and carbohydrates. Carbohydrates replenish your supply of glycogen, which is the fuel stored in your muscles that powers physical activity. Protein helps repair your muscles after strenuous activity. There are a lot of protein powders on the market that you can help replenish after your workout, but, this recipe calls for creamy tofu. Interesting??
Blueberry-Pomegranate Protein Smoothie
8ounces extra soft silken tofu
1 cup frozen blueberries
1 cup pomegranate juice
1 medium ripe banana, cut into 1 inch pieces
1 to 2 tablespoons of honey, or to taste
1 tablespoon toasted wheat germ (optional)

Combine all ingredients in a blender unti smooth and creamy. Serve immediately or cover and refrigerate up to 6 hours.
241 calories, 29 calories from fat, 0 cholesterol, 49 g carbohydrates, 7 g protein, 4 g fiber, 16 mg sodium

No School Fun Camp

Did you know?? There is no school on Monday, January 25th. Don't worry though, we've got you covered. Come in and sign those kids up for our "No School Fun Camp" and rest assured that they are taken care of and having fun! They get to do all kinds of fun things like, board games, racquetball, play in the gym and don't forget swimming in the afternoon. Kats Swim Meet

Come cheer on the swimmers this weekend at the swim meet at the Summit! Saturday, January 16 from 8:00am to 6:00pm both pools will be closed. If the meet ends early the pools will reopen for lap swim or stretch out. Sunday, January 17, 8:00am to 4:00pm the pools will also be closed for the meet. No open swim will be available on Sunday. When you are out and about stop in to watch a fun sports event and cheer our local swimmers on!

Scuba Diving at the Summit

Dive in for a scuba adventure experience! Bighorn Divers and the Summit have teamed up to give you an opportunity to try out scuba diving.This is being done in 1 hour blocks on Sunday, January 24 from 9am to 2pm. Come to the front desk to register, you must fill out a waiver form and sign up for the time slot you would like to be in. This is a free adventure available to Summit members only. Come on in and join the fun!

Take Out for Your Workout

Have you seen what's new at the Summit? We are now offering workout equipment for your home, take that extra workout home with you. We have 12 different pieces of equipment, everything from treadmills, recumbent bikes, upright bikes, elliptical a really cool seated elliptical, weight system and more. Come in and check it out, Gordon is available from 7:00am to 4:00pm to assist you with demonstrations and to ask any questions you may have. Take Out for Your Workout, much better than fast food!

Get Fit in 2010

Well, it's finally here, we made it through the holidays and 2010 is upon us. It's time to get back to the gym. Did you know we offer 11 yoga classes at various times and days?. 14 different time slots for cycling? 9 cardio step classes, as well as Zumba, ballroom dance, tai chi, mat pilates, standing pilates, stretching and foam rollers? We have ab classes, bootcamps, gentle stretches and lighten ups. This is just a smattering of what we have to get you moving. We are open 5:00am to 10:00pm Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 10:00pm on Saturday and 8:00am to 5:00pm on Sunday. Come on in and join the fun and we'll see you at the Summit!
