Keep Your Belongings Safe

There has been a recent rash of break-ins in the Flathead Valley, sad but true. Every day it seems we are hearing about another one. While I have NOT heard about anything recently up here at the Summit I would like to offer a reminder to everyone to please, please don't leave purses, cellphones, wallets etc... on the seat of your cars! If you don't want to lock them in your trunk bring them inside, we have the lockers downstairs for a reason! With that being said, please lock your items up in the lockers while you are here. I'm kind of a "cup half full" sort of person and I like to believe the best in people, unfortunately that is not always the case. Even when you are in the shower lock the locker for security sake.

I really hate being this negative but I think it is something we all need to be a little more aware of. Thank you so much and do have a great day!!

15 Challenges

We are closing in on our Anniversary celebration and the fun is just beginning! You still have time to get your Challenges Cards turned in to get entered for the prizes. Everyone is really having a lot of fun with it and being creative in stepping outside their "box" trying new things. I seen people down in the gym doing freethrows, or at least trying, people trying out tennis. I had a mom tell me this morning that her kids were out shoveling neighbors sidewalks determined to get their challenges done. Not only are they going to get entered in the drawing they were doing a good deed. Way to go!!

Don't forget this Saturday is the last day for the discounted registration, also the last day to get your entries in. The drawing will be held at 2:00pm but there are a lot of fun activities going on throughout the day! Remember, this Saturday we will be open to the public for free, so come on in join the fun and help us celebrate our 15th Anniversary!!!

Tiling Fitness Stairs

So what's the latest buzz? What's with the stairs to the cardio level? What's a "flyway" and why do we need access to that? Here's the scoop. The stairs that go up from the fitness floor to the cardio mezzanine are being retiled so they will be closed for several days. To get to the cardio floor where the treadmills, elipticals, bicycles etc...are located you have to scan in at the front desk (like usual) go to the locker room (if you use it) and then come back upstairs to the front desk. Then you head towards the deli, past the deli, you are now entering the cardiac rehab zone. Cross over through cardiac rehab and you are now in the cardio mezzanine. As you go through that area please be respectful of those who may be using the equipment at the time.

Member Survey

We value your opinion, yes, we really do! Please stop by the kiosk that is set up in the lobby and fill out the survey. It only takes about 5 minutes and it is simple and easy. If you are not feeling very computer savvy one of us at the front desk would be more than happy to "walk" you through it. Thanks for taking the time to do this. Remember this is your "club" and we value your input, tell us what you would like to see, what you don't like, what you do like, who you like, who you don't. The only way things can change is if you ask. Once again, thank you and have a great day!!

Mammogram

Mammogram, Now isn't that a fun word! I know as a woman that conjures up some great mental images, yikes! However, with that being said we really do need to get them done. The Health Center has found a way to make it a bit more enticing. Get a mammagram before April 1st and you will receive a card for a free 30 day membership right here at the Summit. This will give you full use of the facility and if you have so much fun, and we know you will, when your 30 days is done you can become a regular member of the Summit with NO registration fee. Wow! What a deal, a checkup and a free 30 day membership all in one. If you are already a Summit member you can give it to a friend. Call 751-4100 for more details.

Downstairs Flooring

What's up with the flooring downstairs?? I have been asked that a million times, ok, maybe not a million but quite a few. Let me try and give an answer to this question. Moisture was found underneath the flooring that was going to create further problems so the locktech (the wood floor looking stuff) had to be removed. Then came the waiting time to let the concrete dry out. We've finally have come to the point where we made the decision not to replace the wood flooring and instead we are grinding the concrete down to the aggregate and are going to polish and clear coat it. It should look really cool when it's all done! It will be about another week before it is completely done. Thanks for your patience, all your input and for putting up with the mess.

Living on the Edge

Did you know? Before people develop type 2 diabetes, they almost always have "pre-diabetes" blood glucose levels that are higher than normal but not high enough to be diagnosed as diabetes. Recent research has shown that some long-term damage to the body, especially the heart and circulatory system, may already be occurring during pre-diabetes. The good news is that studies show that people with pre-diabetes can prevent the onset of type 2 diabetes by making changes in their diet and increasing their level of physical activity. Through a grant from the State of Montana, the KRMC Diabetes Education and Prevention program offers a 16 week Diabetes Prevention Course open to anyone at risk for diabetes. Located at the Summit, this course includes instruction on nutritional choices as well as individualized exercise instruction.

Two class offerings are available: Mondays(beginning January 25) from 4:30-6:30pm or Tuesdays (beginning January 26) from 11:30-1:30pm. Cost of the class is a depost of $50; however, the cost is fully refundable upon completion of the course requirements. Scholarships are avaliable for those who cannot afford the class cost. For more information, or to register call 751-5454
